Tanya Gold, MD Family/Holistic Medicine, Inspirational Speaker, Author, Teaches Yoga & Laughter Yoga

Dr. Tanya Gold, MD has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. She is board certified in family medicine and holistic medicine. She did her medical training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, in Galveston, Texas. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher, certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and certified Laughter Leader from the World Laughter Tour (WLT). She is also trained in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP).

Dr. Gold believes in treating the whole person and identifying the root cause of her patient’s illness, so they can get well long term. She listens and CARES. If they are healthy, she wants them to stay that way, so they can reach their optimal health. Using integrative medicine, which combines Western and complementary therapies, she finds the best treatments for her patients. This may include supplements, prescription drugs, and laughter yoga, among other approaches, as therapeutic modalities. She strives to provide her patients with the most natural and effective treatments, with the least amount of side effects.

Treatment plans are individual and personalized, using a technique she developed called BAC (Behavioral Associative Conditioning). The plans even vary for people with the same diagnosis, because she doesn’t subscribe to a one size fits allapproach to patient care. For example, one patient with a headache may be prescribed magnesium with relaxation techniques, while another is prescribed massage therapy accompanied by switching to an ergonomic desk and a stretching regimen. Dr. Gold meets her patients where they are, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle, which incorporates a well-balanced mind, body and spirit. They learn how to eat nutritiously (REAL FOOD), without sacrificing taste, and make it affordable. Her hands-on approach also includes healthy food shopping and healthy cooking with her patients.

As a laughter leader and yoga instructor Dr. Gold shows her cheerfulness, and has been called Dr. Sunshine by her friends and patients. Her zest for life is contagious. She teaches people how to lighten up and relax, by showing them ENJOYABLE ways to get healthy i.e. jump on a trampoline, call into the laughter hotline, dance etc. Some of her patients tell her they don’t even feel like they are working out, because they are having so much FUN!

Dr. Gold is a public speaker and has presented to numerous groups around the country. This includes a keynote at Cornerstone, an international information technology firm in Los Angeles, and a Parkinson’s group in Tampa, Florida, among others. She enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her misunderstood kitties, and perusing health food stores.
